Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to the COBE Intelligence platform. We want everyone — including staff members completing an assessment and leaders reviewing organisational intelligence — to be able to use it, regardless of ability.

Conformance target

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard referenced by UK public sector accessibility regulations. This is a target we are actively working towards, not a certified conformance claim — the platform has not yet had an independent accessibility audit.

What we've already done

A skip-to-content link on every page, and landmark regions (navigation, main) for screen reader users to jump between sections
Visible keyboard focus states on every interactive control — links, buttons, form fields
The assessment wizard uses proper fieldset/legend grouping and aria-current on the active step, so screen reader users get the same step-by-step orientation sighted users get visually
Form errors and status messages are announced as alerts rather than relying on colour alone
Decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology (aria-hidden) so they don't clutter screen reader output
Automated accessibility regression tests run as part of our test suite, so these fixes can't silently regress

Known limitations

We know of the following gaps and are working through them:

Some administrative pages (super-admin and org-admin tooling) have not yet had a full manual accessibility review, only the automated checks above
Chart-based visualisations (e.g. trend and distribution charts) do not yet have a text/table alternative for screen reader users
Downloaded reports (PDF compliance exports) are not yet tagged for accessibility
